In an effort to promote environmental consciousness and inspire young minds to take action for a greener future, Divine Happy School in Bhagalpur organized a tree plantation drive on July 31, 2023. The event saw the active participation of 100 students and 10 teachers, including Devraj Diwakar, Amardeep Kumar Yadav, Dilip Singh, Kastury Acharjee and Manisha Madhushree, who came together to plant 40 Gulmohar and Ashoka trees adjacent to the school campus at Chatrapati Talab Road. The tree plantation drive was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Wibhu Kumar Roy, Secretary of the Global Environmental Organization in Bhagalpur. Dr. Roy, an expert in environmental conservation, presided over the event and delivered an inspiring talk, emphasizing the crucial role of trees in maintaining ecological balance and combatting environmental challenges.
The school’s Principal, Dr. Anita Pandey, addressed the gathering at the outset of the event, stressing the significance of preserving green spaces and the environment. Her insightful speech motivated the young students to actively participate in the tree plantation drive and become champions of nature’s conservation. With shovels in hand and enthusiasm in their hearts, the students and teachers worked together to plant the Gulmohar saplings around the school premises. The choice of Gulmohar trees was deliberate, as their vibrant red-orange flowers symbolize the beauty and resilience of nature. After the successful tree plantation, the students took a solemn oath to protect and nurture the newly planted trees. They pledged to adopt eco-friendly practices, such as reducing plastic usage, conserving water, and advocating for tree planting initiatives.
Dr. Wibhu Kumar Roy’s expert talk left a lasting impact on the young audience, inspiring them to take small but meaningful steps towards protecting the environment. His message resonated deeply with the students, motivating them to become proactive agents of change in their communities. The tree plantation drive was not only a symbolic act of environmental stewardship but also a testament to Divine Happy School’s commitment to instilling environmental values in its students. The active involvement of the school’s Principal, Dr. Anita Pandey, and the dedicated teachers further exemplified the school’s dedication to fostering a sense of responsibility and ownership of the environment among its students.
The event’s success was a result of the collective efforts and cooperation between the students, teachers, and the Global Environmental Organization. It showcased the power of collaborative action and highlighted the potential of the youth to drive positive change in the realm of environmental conservation. As the Gulmohar and Ashoka trees take root and grow, they will stand as a symbol of the students’ dedication to nurturing nature and preserving the planet for generations to come.
