Mini Market – A Learning By Doing Initiative
Dear Parents,
We are pleased to announce that our school is planning to organise a “Mini Market”—an exciting learning-by-doing activity that will give students an opportunity to experience how a real market works.
Students will manage their own stalls, selling items, handmade products, decorative items, books or other suitable products. They will learn to plan, estimate costs, fix prices, interact with customers, manage money, maintain sales records, and calculate their profit or loss.
A Special Note on Investment
Dear Parents, please be assured of the following:
1. The activity is meant to teach students basic skills and importance of putting in effort. Please do not make heavy investment by purchasing ready-made kits from market.
2. The investment is completely voluntary - please note that no one will force students to make heavy investment.
3. The maximum investment will be only ₹500 per group (not per student). There is absolutely no need to spend more on preparing products or setting up stalls.
4. Students are encouraged to use simple, affordable, and creative ideas and make the best use of available resources. The focus is on learning business skills, not on spending money.
This initiative aligns with CBSE’s emphasis on Skill Education and experiential learning, helping students connect classroom knowledge with real-life situations. Through this activity, they will develop practical skills in budgeting, financial management, communication, teamwork, entrepreneurship, and decision-making.
The purpose is not to compete over who earns the most profit, but to help children learn through experience, creativity, responsibility, and real life experience.
An Important Assurance to Parents: The school will not take any share of the profit earned by students. The entire profit generated from their stalls will belong to the students and will be distributed among them. Our teachers will guide the children, while we encourage parents to support them without doing the work on their behalf.
Let us give our children the opportunity to step beyond the classroom, understand the real world, and develop skills for life.
We look forward to your support and cooperation in making this activity a meaningful learning experience for every child.
